Job Summary: The General Manager, Strategic Procurement, will lead the procurement function, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of materials, services, and equipment necessary for the company’s construction projects. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, extensive experience in procurement, and a deep understanding of the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Planning:
    • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with the company’s goals and objectives.
    • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
    • Conduct market analysis to stay informed about industry trends and supplier capabilities.
  2. Supplier Management:
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
    • Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions to ensure favorable outcomes for the company.
    • Monitor supplier performance and address any issues or discrepancies.
  3. Team Leadership:
    • Lead and mentor the procurement team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
    • Set performance goals and conduct regular evaluations.
    • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and knowledge.
  4. Procurement Operations:
    • Oversee the procurement process, from requisition to delivery, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
    • Manage the procurement budget and track expenditures.
    • Implement and maintain procurement software and systems for efficiency and transparency.
  5. Risk Management:
    • Identify and mitigate risks associated with procurement activities.
    • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
    • Develop contingency plans to address potential supply chain disruptions.
  6. Collaboration:
    • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and timelines.
    • Coordinate with finance and legal departments to ensure alignment on procurement activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Master is Supply Chain Management or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 16-18 years of experience, with at least 8-10 years Strategic Procurement and in a leadership role within the construction industry.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and systems.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
